The next two Urban Media Fest virtual screenings and panel discussions will take place this Thursday, April 15. 

 

Screening and Panel: West of the Jordan River (2018)

Director Amos Gitai returns to theWest Bank to better understand the efforts of the citizens, both Israelisand Palestinians, to try to overcome the consequences of the 50-year occupation. He interviews activists, journalists, current and former government officials, as well as unaffiliated citizens to craft a portrait of a region in static disarray.

Directors Banietemad and Mirtahmasb portray the life of Touran Mirhadi (Khomarloo), who is the founder of Farhad School, the Children's Book Council, and the Encyclopedia for Young People. She was also actively involved with close to 20 other institutions dealing with child development and education, and supported the formation of dozens of others. She is known as the preeminent architect of childhood institutions and the mother of modern education in Iran.
