The University System of Georgia Board of Regents approved the creation of the Julius C. “Bud” Shaw Professorship in Sports, Society, and Technology. The board also approved the appointment of Johnny Smith, assistant professor in the School of History and Sociology, as the inaugural holder of the Shaw Professorship.
