Prasad Co-Edits Special Issue of Science, Technology and Society Journal

Posted July 25, 2022

Associate Professor Amit Prasad in the School of History and Sociology co-edited a series of articles for a special issue of Science, Technology and Society journal. The essays, contributed by authors from around the world, explore changes in science and technology studies (STS) due to the Covid pandemic.

"The focus of the special issue, especially the articles, is not necessarily the Covid pandemic, but rather how this 'long pause' during Covid is making or allowing us to innovatively think about some of the analytics that we take for granted in our field and also more broadly," Prasad said.

He authored "Introduction: Interrogating STS at the Time of Covid," while his co-editor Alexandra Hofmänner at the University of Basel, Switzerland, wrote "Postscript: Vaccine Crumbs and Science and Technology Studies."

Additional articles in the series include "From Postcolonial to Post-COVID: Midnight Thoughts While Waiting for the Dawn" by Fa-Ti Fan at Binghamton University, "Walking as Embodied Research: Coloniality, Climate Change, and the ‘Arts of Noticing’" by Nick Shepard at Aarhus University and University of Pretoria, and "Pluriversal Problems, Revolutionary Remedies" by Suman Seth at Cornell University among others.

The essays were published online first in Science, Technology, Society and will appear in print later in the year. Read more news from the School of History and Sociology.
